Smedegaard Booster Sets
Smedegaard Booster Sets can be the economic answer to a situation where water supply pressure is low or a break tank needs to be fitted between the point of supply and use. In such cases the need for high level storage is eliminated and an ideal alternative to energy wasting constant run sets is provided.
Smedegaard offers a well designed range of Booster Sets incorporating quality components to give the reliability and control normally expected only from a mains water system. Design complexity has been avoided, simplifying field adjustment and routine maintenance.
Smedegaard Booster Sets are fitted with a pump control vessel sized to supply draw-off during low demand peirods. The reduced motor operation saves power and is an important consideration in sensitive locations such as hospitals, hotels and old people?s homes.
Noise level has been an extremely important criterion in the design of this range. Low noise non-return valves are fitted and piping is sized to ensure low flow velocity. The symmetrical layout of the pumps and vessel gives even weight distribution. In critical installations, inertia bases/anti-vibration mountings and flexible connections can be supplied.
Booster sets normally have two pumps arranged to operate as duty-standby at full design flow. Where large demand variation is expected, two 50% capacity pumps on lead-lag are more economical. A third pump may he added as standby. Pressure regulating valves can he supplied and are recommended where constant pressure, irrespective of flow, is required.
Moods included in the selection chart have been designed around multi-stage pumps. The range can he extended as shown and where flow is high, relative to pressure, single- stage close-coupled pumps are used.

Pressure Switches ?
High sensitivity pressure switches are used for pump control.
Pump Control Vessels ?
Suitable for 0 bar working pressure, with replaceable E.P.D.M. rubber sleeve. Water is contained within the sleeve and does not come into contact with the vessel. The sleeve is surrounded by an air cushion which is factory preset at 0.2 bar below pressure switch cut-in.
Piping and Valves ?
Piping is BS2871 Table X copper tube up to 42 mm. ABS class C or D in larger sizes. Isolating and non-return valves are bronze or DZR brass. Suction and discharge are manifolded.
Control Panels ?
Normally direct on-line up to 4 kW star-delta for 5.5 kW and larger. Standard enclosure is IP43 with higher ratings available. The panel has door interlocked isolator, changeover switch, running and trip lights, fused power and control circuits. Terminals are provided for connection of a protective device such as a low-level float switch.

Fabricated steel construction.
